It's Official! Freedom from Homosexuality in Guyana, South America

In February 2007, His Way Out Ministries saw a vision that God Himself gave many, many years ago become a reality. Since 1999, His Way Out Ministries has made numerous trips to Guyana, South America with the expectation, hope and purpose of establishing a branch of our ministry with the specific purpose of reaching men and women struggling with same-gender attraction, equipping the Church to be more effective in evangelizing those struggling with homosexuality, and offering ministry to those impacted by HIV/AIDS. The vision God gave us at HWOM became an official reality on February 5, 2007.

At the National Library in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, at 10:00am on February 5, 2007, an official launching ceremony detailing the ministry partnership between Operation Restoration, a local Guyanese ministry co-directed by Phyllis Jordan and Jennifer Flatts, and His Way Out Ministries took place. The extremely well attended event included pastors and Christian leaders from numerous denominations, representatives from the media and Christian community, and many individuals hoping for a specialized ministry to help with unwanted same-gender attraction to become birthed and full-time in Guyana. The launching ceremony began with the singing of Guyana's national anthem followed by the genesis of Operation Restoration, a presentation of the ministry partnership between Operation Restoration and His Way Out Ministries by Pastor Phillip Lee, Executive Director of His Way Out Ministries, a time of questions and answers by those in attendance and ultimately introducing the ministry personnel that would be facilitating the ministry. Wonderfully, the entire event was recorded and preserved on DVD as the occasion truly marked a point in history for the nation of Guyana. To God be the glory!

Coinciding with the establishment of the ex-gay ministry event, Pastor Phillip Lee once again had the privilege of teaching a five-night series titled Homosexuality and the Reality of Change at the Wesleyan Bible University in Georgetown. By invitation of Pastor Marlon Hestick, President of the Wesleyan Bible University, this was the second time His Way Out Ministries had been invited to teach bible students, pastors and Christian leaders on the reality of freedom from homosexuality. The series was incredibly well received and the response from those in attendance could not have been more encouraging as many students and pastors shared their appreciation for the course. As a result, Pastor Hestick requested His Way Out Ministries to facilitate the course on a regular yearly basis viewing the teachings as critical in equipping those entering into ministry and for those already in full-time ministry as well. Therefore, His Way Out Ministries has already planned a return to Guyana for February 2008 (if not before).

Also during the trip in February, Pastor Phillip facilitated three training sessions for numerous men and women on How to Facilitate Support Groups. Since the usage and facilitation of support groups has never been used in Guyana to help those struggling with homosexuality and lesbianism, the trainings were incredibly well attended as many displayed their desire to learn and equip themselves with ministry tools for support group facilitation. All persons participating in the training received a working knowledge of support groups, an abundance of printed material specifically written by His Way Out Ministries to help them in organizing and running support groups and on the final day of training, Pastor Phillip modeled a support group using several men as support group participants thereby showing all in attendance just how groups are conducted and facilitated. It was a very exciting series and once again marked a turning point in Guyanese history.

On behalf of all of us at His Way Out Ministries, we want to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the many of you, both individuals and churches that stood with us over these many years believing that God would fulfill His vision for Guyana. Now, that the vision is a reality, men, women, families and churches of all denominations in Guyana have a full-time resource available to them in their own country. Certainly, the vision of ex-gay ministry in Guyana was challenged over and over again. However, when God gives direction and promise, He will fulfill His Word. Thank you for standing with us and believing that our God remains a God of new beginnings.

From All of Us at His Way Out Ministries...

To each of you who continually bless us by your encouragement, ministry participation, monthly financial support, offerings and prayers...we remain truly grateful. His Way Out Ministries is proclaiming to, educating and impacting the world with the biblical truth that freedom from homosexuality is possible when Jesus Christ is Lord of your life.

Prayerfully Yours,

Pastor Phillip Lee

Executive Director
His Way Out Ministries

The Gay Gospel? (How Pro-Gay Advocates Misread the Bible)

Joe Dallas, author of Desires in Conflict and A Strong Delusion, has a new book titled The Gay Gospel? In The Gay Gospel? you'll find the crucial balance between conviction and compassion and a practical guide to communicating with those who have embraced the pro-gay theology. Joes's book is a must read for anyone seeking truth regarding pro-gay theology and reaching those bound by same-gender attraction. Once again, Joe has thoroughly and clearly presented biblical truths while offering practical steps and tools to be more effective in evangelizing the gay community. Ultimately, the content of Joe's book cements the fact that the entire issue of homosexuality is really about the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the Authority of Scripture.

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS

AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.

We invite churches, companies, ministries, corporations, individuals, and the entire City of Bakersfield to join with us in caring. Offer your support by donating the below listed items.
