Giving God Praise!

We know of no better way to kick off a new year than to give God praise for the healing and restoration that He has done in so many lives. Therefore, we hope that you will rejoice with us in celebrating the following brief testimonies.

I am so glad I am out of the madness of homosexuality. I found out the gay lifestyle is not all that it promises to be. I played every hand I had and lost. I wasted my fortune on wild living, never thinking of tomorrow. The alcohol, cocaine, and the sex didn't work any longer. Ultimately, life came full circle and I was forced to come face to face with the truth. I had become hard and bitter with no hope. Ultimately, after fully surrendering my life to Christ, I am learning that He is the only true judge and I should never confuse His judgments with the judgments of others. Who am I to question His sovereignty and His shed blood? I am looking forward to a new year with hope and expectancy. With Jesus Christ and His Way Out Ministries by my side, I can truly do all things...B.M.

It has been a wonderful year. So many new discoveries about who I am and what God plans for my life. I have learned so many aspects of life and His creation. I now know that I can walk and live in the truth and reality of who God has made me and I am learning more each day to walk in that truth. Now, I know that I am perfected in Him and what the world has to say about homosexuality is a lie. Therefore, if I give myself completely to Him, I will continue to change into His image and the worlds will fade away...L.S.

When I came to His Way Out Ministries, it was a big step towards healing that I so desperately needed. I received great encouragement and not at any time was I forced to spill my inner most self until I was ready. The support group meetings became a refuge for me and I began to look forward to going to let out all I had been suppressing inside. I found understanding, then support for very fragile emotions. After this, I would go deeper and found solutions to the problems I faced which was very important. I have received an inner security and healing. I know I have hope and will grow further. It's been an amazing journey...J.G.

I attempted to become a better Christian by reading the Bible more and increasing my head knowledge of who I was supposed to be. I knew I was supposed to live a good life and that God had promised me: "That no temptation has seized you except what is common to man and God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear..." 1 Corinthians 10:13. Even with that knowledge I continued to sin. I could never see the way out and I was sure that the temptation was beyond my ability to withstand it. I needed help but was embarrassed to seek help. Ultimately, I came to understand that by myself I could not change but with Jesus in my heart and in my life, I am now free from the control of sin and the enemy. As a result of my submission and reliance on God I am changed and am being changed. I keep my focus on the Lord and trust in His love. I no longer believe the lies of the enemy regarding homosexuality. My faith has increased and I understand that Jesus Christ can meet all my needs both known and unknown...J.M.

When my husband "came out of the closet," I wanted nothing more than to be comforted. Up until this time in my life, I had barely spoken the word "homosexuality." I felt shame and embarrassment about this touching my life and yet I loved my husband and wanted people to be kind and sensitive towards him. Eventually, I started attending a support group at His Way Out Ministries and I began to receive understanding and compassion for what I was going through. My heart is on the mend and I am thankful for that. While I would never have asked for this to happen in my life, I am thankful for all that God has shown and taught me through this...G.M.

For eighteen years I struggled with bi-sexuality; at times I was successful for periods of six months. But because I continued feeding my mind with gay pornography, I always ended up back in gay sexual immorality. It wasn't until I got to the point of being sick and tired of my lifestyle that I sought help. Once I admitted to God that I was powerless over my struggles, I began to seek help. His Way Out Ministries became an oasis in a spiritual desert - a desert that I'd been hopelessly wandering in for too many years. I now know the meaning of being transformed by the renewing of our mind. My prayer is that my testimony would somehow glorify Jesus Christ and be a help to someone else who is struggling with sexual brokenness...G.R.

To God be the glory for the great things He has done!

Discovering Your Spiritual Gift

Like every believer, you receive gifts from the Holy Spirit at the time of your new birth. But how can you know for certain what your gifts are? Once you do know, how should you use your gifts to best serve God? On January 14, 2006, we will begin a new teaching series designed to help you discover and define the spiritual gift(s) that God Himself has given you.

Time Out meets faithfully on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 9am to 11am and is available to men struggling with same-gender attraction. At Time Out, a primary goal is to help men discover the loving, powerful presence of God who is there on behalf of their struggle. During each Time Out meeting, ample time will be given for participants to share life's struggles and victories. There is no charge for the series beginning January 14th and teaching materials will be provided. For further information about Time Out, please contact the HWOM office at (661) 589-4262 or email us at His Way Out Ministries.

New L.I.F.E. Series Begins January 7th

Has homosexuality impacted your family or church yet? No one could have guessed when we started this ministry nearly eleven years ago where we would be culturally today...

  • Homosexual characters in every movie and television program
  • Popular actors and actresses openly celebrating gay relationships
  • Gay marriage legalized in several states
  • Gay affirming curriculum being taught in schools
  • 17% of teens identifying as either gay or bi-sexual

Heaven knows, when homosexuality comes knocking at your front door, life may never be quite the same again. Homosexuality is always someone else's problem - until it hits home. And then the pain is excruciating! Therefore, when a crisis occurs, how should we as Christians respond? How do we handle the avalanche of emotions? What do you say? What do you do?

Beginning January 7, 2006, we will turn our attention to biblical principles that provide guidance, encouragement and hope in the midst of crisis and pain. While our L.I.F.E. (Living in Fellowship...Even in Tough Times) Support Group is always a blend of individuals coming out of homosexuality, spouses, family members or friends of someone struggling with homosexuality, the group setting and teachings are also available to anyone that would like to attend and learn about the complexities of homosexuality. Some of the subjects that we will be turning our attention to are: Learning to Listen, Knowing When to Speak, Questions Are Ok, The Art of Confrontation, and much, much more.

L.I.F.E. meets faithfully on the first Saturday of each month from 9am to 11am.

Arguments and Answers

Argument: My same-sex partner and I are in a monogamous relationship, and we truly love each other. How can there be anything wrong with that?

Answer: Love in and of itself does not sanctify a relationship. Scripture places boundaries on human relationships and does not allow for any compromise, even if love is present. Any form of sexual relating that is contrary to God's Word will always remain wrong no matter if love is real, perceived or...to any degree.

"Thank You!" First Baptist Church, Taft, CA.

Recently, HWOM had the privilege of sharing biblical truths and personal testimony at First Baptist Church in Taft, California. By invitation of Pastor Scott Pearson, this was the second time HWOM had the honor of ministering in First Baptist's two Sunday morning services. With the message focusing on our God of Transformation and Freedom from Homosexuality When Jesus Christ is Lord of Your Life, the response from the congregation was more than encouraging during and after each service. During the Sunday school hour, Michael Ross had the opportunity to share his testimony and it was again more the evident that those in attendance were extremely touched by the transformation God has done in his life. It was a great day of giving God praise!

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS

AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.

We invite churches, companies, ministries, corporations, individuals, and the entire City of Bakersfield to join with us in caring. Offer your support by donating the below listed items.

Canned tuna Canned soups
Canned ravioli Canned pasta products, e.g.Spaghettio's
