"Homosexuality vs. the Authority of Scripture" Series Summary By Pastor Phillip Lee
For the past several months, I have been sharing what I believe are principles and biblical truths regarding God's position on homosexuality. Once again, while I am certain that our position at His Way Out Ministries will seem very judgmental to some, I have endeavored to present that while homosexual behavior is indeed wrong in God's eyes, I have done so not to condemn, but hopefully and prayerfully to enable people to receive God's grace and extend it to others as well.
Therefore, I will conclude this series by turning our attention to the undeniable biblical facts regarding human sexuality. I cannot overemphasize the reality and foundational truth that God has and continues to reveal Himself through the Holy Bible. Consequently, if I identify myself as a Christian, I must embrace the totality of Scripture or not at all. It is only through an atmosphere of hunger, utter dependency and willingness to obey God's Word, that He imparts His will and thereby empowers us to be over comers. Therefore, let's turn our attention to God's divine intent truths for human sexuality.
Before I list those principles, I will restate that I believe God wants us to once again believe that He is perfect and His holy boundary lines, which are clearly defined for us in Scripture, are in place for our ultimate well being, safety and maturity. Admittedly, each and every principle that I will share can only be achieved by fixing all of our hope and our attention on Jesus Christ and diligently beseeching Him to bring these things about in our lives.
God created man and woman and ordained marriage as a sacred bond between them both (Genesis 2:18-24). It is very clear from Genesis 1 and 2 that God created both sexes as compliments and counterparts to each other. Only the married union of a man and a woman offers spiritual, psychological and physical completion with the potential for creating new life.
God condemns adultery (Exodus 20:14; Matthew 19:4-6). As the marriage vows state..."till death do we part," is a holy boundary line intended for both the man and woman to live within.
God's Word undeniably forbids and condemns homosexuality and is identified as a sin (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:21-29). However, God also condemns and forbids heterosexual fornication on the same grounds as homosexual practice (Colossians 3:5-6).
Homosexuality was blatantly practiced in Sodom and Gomorrah and ultimately provoked God's divine judgment (Genesis 19:1-14; 2 Peter 2:6-9). Without a doubt, Jesus compared the world's moral condition at the end of time to that of Sodom and Gomorrah (Luke 17:24-32; Revelation 18:1-5).
Homosexuals that are purposed to habitually practice a behavior that is contrary to God's will and attempt to justify their choice of behavior will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:8-10).
God's Word expressly tells us that homosexuals are redeemable and can find freedom from both homosexual feelings and behavior (1 Corinthians 6:11; Galatians 5:13, 16).
The widespread acceptance and endorsement of homosexual behavior has clear prophetic significance. Because iniquity (lawlessness) shall abound, the love of many will wax cold (Matthew 24:12; 2 Timothy 3:1-5).
The world, America in particular, seems to be drowning in a sea of lust. It is entirely possible that homosexuality is one of the indications that civilization is on the verge of complete and total ruin. However, in all fairness, so is sexual promiscuity between heterosexuals. Unholy behavior between a man and a woman is not a more righteous form of sin than the same behavior between two people of the same sex. It may be more natural, but it is not more holy. Indeed, pornography, incest, pedophilia and homosexuality are all rotten fruits that have fallen off the tree...the tree of lust.
However, the fact remains that God has been and remains faithful to a multitude that have found freedom from homosexuality. On a personal note...God has healed me from the inside out, so that I no longer want to, or need to commit sexual sin in order to fill some inner emotional or psychological need. He has also given me the undeniable grace to survive twenty years of celibacy. I remember very well asking Him at one point to remove the fire from sexual urges. He did so. Speaking as one who knows, God desires to heal many, many more. Be persistent, fervent and respond to His direction. For whom the Son of Man sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).And in closing, remember...whatever we feel, whatever we think, must always take a back seat to whom God is and what He has clearly said.
From All of Us at His Way Out Ministries...
To each of you who continually bless us by your encouragement, ministry participation, monthly financial support, offerings, and prayers...we remain truly grateful. His Way Out Ministries is proclaiming to, educating, and impacting the world with the biblical truth that freedom from homosexuality is possible when Jesus Christ is Lord of your life.
Coming soon...details on our recent missionary trip to Guyana, South America.
Prayerfully Yours,
Pastor Phillip Lee

Green Lake? It Was Awesome!
Recently, His Way Out Ministries had the opportunity to participate in the 31st National Holy Spirit Conference held in Green Lake, WI. American Baptists from all over the country gathered for a week long conference filled with awesome worship, workshops, speakers addressing a variety of pertinent subjects, and to experience the empowering and refreshing presence of the Holy Spirit. Not unlike other denominations, the issue of homosexuality has been and remains a critical issue within the American Baptist denomination. As a result, HWOM was invited to facilitate workshops and contribute during the general sessions with teaching and testimony regarding freedom from homosexuality. At times, the response from conference participants was overwhelming. Each and every day, numerous individuals sought HWOM out to express their appreciation for our message of hope and transformation and to dialogue about how to reach their loved one struggling with same-gender attraction.
To say that attendance in our workshops was encouraging would be an understatement. Those in attendance displayed a genuine hunger to equip themselves with tools and truths regarding the complexities of homosexuality. Wonderfully, what emerged during the conference were two additional invitations to collectively address pastors and youth with each presentation being well received and appreciated. HWOM is extremely grateful to Holy Spirit Renewal Ministries in American Baptist Churches for a power packed conference. To God be the glory!

Not Politically Correct: "Atheist psychiatrist argues that gays can change!" By Pastor Phillip Lee
Recently, in the Exodus Impact (a publication of Exodus International), an interview by Douglas Leblanc with Dr. Robert Spitzer, professor of psychiatry at Columbia University and chief of the New York State Psychiatric Institute's Biometrics Research Department, was presented to their readers.
In 1973, Dr. Spitzer opposed the prevailing beliefs in his profession by leading the effort to remove homosexuality from the official list of psychiatric disorders. For this, liberals and the gay community respected him, even as it angered many of his psychiatric colleagues. However, in 2001, Dr. Spitzer began to challenge his own beliefs regarding homosexuality. He was prompted to do so due to meeting and speaking with ex-gays at an annual APA (American Psychiatric Association) meeting. Per Dr. Spitzer, "They explained how they had changed. And that got me interested."
Dr. Spitzer began to challenge that the desire for change in sexual orientation is always the result of societal pressure and never the product of a rational, self-directed goal. The belief claims that it is possible for an individual who was predominantly homosexual for many years to change his sexual orientation...not only in his sexual behavior, but also in his attraction and fantasies...and to enjoy heterosexuality.
To say that a controversy erupted when Dr. Spitzer reported the results of a study that asked an important scientific question... Is it true that one who was predominantly homosexual for many years could strongly diminish his homosexual feelings and substantially develop heterosexual potential?...would be an understatement.
What Dr. Spitzer found in his unique sample of the 200 individuals he studied, many made substantial changes in sexual arousal and fantasy...and not merely in behavior. Even subjects who made a less substantial change believed it to be extremely beneficial. Also, according to Dr. Spitzer's findings, "you talk to people and you get a sense of whether they're being candid or not. I had the sense that they were. Also, there was a consistency, the fact that the change was described as slow and not immediate."
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Spitzer at the American Psychiatric Association Convention in Chicago in May 2000 and at the Exodus Conference in San Diego, CA. However, I must admit that Dr. Spitzer knows me much better than I know him. I was one of the 200 people Dr. Spitzer interviewed for his study.
Ultimately, Dr. Spitzer found that sexual conversion therapy can produce significant positive and lasting changes and the notion that sexual orientation is invariably fixed for all people is false.

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS
AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.
We invite churches, companies, ministries, corporations, individuals, and the entire City of Bakersfield to join with us in caring. Offer your support by donating the below listed items.
