Welcome to His Way Out Ministries
May 2003 Highlights
Guyana
This coming July, I will be accompanied by Mr. Darren Thompson and Ms. Ginny Mitchell, Advisory Board members of HWOM, and Ms. Carol Wagstaff, Executive Director of Living Stones Ministries in Glendora, California, for what will be my seventh trip to Guyana, South America. Our ministry team will be spending two weeks in Guyana for the purpose of raising awareness, educating, and encouraging the Body of Christ to minister transformingly to those struggling with homosexuality.
Last year, I made two trips to Guyana, with each trip focusing on...homosexuality and the reality of change. Several seminars were conducted in various locations, two opportunities became available to teach and testify of God's healing and restoration from same-gender attractions on nationwide television, and an abundance of time was spent equipping bible students at the World Harvest Bible School, in ministry to the sexually broken.
Just last year, there was a major push for the acceptance and legalization of homosexuality in Guyana by many local politicians. However, numerous Christians stepped forward, voiced their opposition to such a possibility and the movement for legalization was stopped. Those who expressed their concern and objected to the embracement of homosexuality as an acceptable, alternate lifestyle, were branded homophobic and prejudiced.
Recently, in a letter to the editor of Starbroek News (the local Guyanese newspaper), a writer stated...human sexuality is a gift from God, but...promiscuity, predatory sexual behavior, pedophilia and pornography are sinful. We all believe in moral standards and that all humans are loved by God and that we are all called to love our neighbor. People are hurting as they continue to feel rejected, despised, misunderstood, and unchurched because of their sexual preference. For reasons of compassion and care for each other in the Body of Christ, we have no option but to engage and to seek better understanding.
While I agree with the writer, once again, I find it remarkable that homosexuality was conveniently left out of the above mentioned behaviors. Tragically, I have found and continue to find that those endorsing homosexuality as acceptable, with man and with God, do not see the issue as one of morals but one of civil rights.
When anyone claims that homosexuality is God's gift to the church and to society, then confrontation is appropriate. In terms of the church...the church's integrity is compromised when those professing to be Christians misrepresent Christianity. When people claiming to follow Christ misrepresent Him through immorality, Christians need to protest and present the truth. If homosexuals are comfortable with their behavior, that is one matter. However, when they say it is done with the blessings of Christianity, then the church should insist as the Apostle Paul did, "The Lord knows them that are his. And, let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity" (2 Timothy 2:19).
Pro-gay theology is the cornerstone of the gay Christian movement. Many within the movement contend that the Scriptures we clearly understand to condemn homosexuality have been mistranslated. According to many within the gay Christian movement...most Christians do not know biblical Greek and Hebrew well enough to realize that our modern day translations on homosexuality are all wrong.
Another claim that pro-gay theologians make is that the verses that seem to prohibit homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:9-10), have been pulled out of context from their original meaning. Or, as some would have us believe, they only applied to the culture existing at the time they were written.
The pro-gay mistranslation and out of context arguments make absolutely no sense. On something as important as sexual ethics, are you and I really to believe that the Bible translators we rely on got it wrong five times, in two different Testaments? And...only on the Scriptures regarding homosexuality? Pro-gay theologians and apologists don't seem to have any problem with the other Scriptures that condemn such sins as adultery or child abuse.
Making a decision (deciding to believe what you want), as many have, is the first step in making the Bible agree with you. That's nothing new...people have been doing that for years. Twist the Scriptures hard enough and you can make them say anything you please.
A sign of the end times, according to Paul, will be an abandonment of the truth for the sake of personal satisfaction and fulfillment: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but rather after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itchy ears and they shall turn away their ears from the truth (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
During our mission trip to Guyana...may God help us to speak His truth in love as we confront pro-gay theology.

Living In Fellowship...Even In Tough Times (L.I.F.E.)
Truth is based in faith upon God's unchanging character, and not our ever-changing feelings. Join us on Saturday, May 3rd, as we turn our attention to...Living By Faith. Somehow a lot of people have confused "knowledge" with faith. Knowledge is the beginning of faith...but it is only the beginning. Some have filled their heads with Bible truth only to find out that their faith was not strong enough to withstand the "blows" of life.
L.I.F.E. comes along side with compassion, encouragement and an understanding of the complexities of homosexuality. The support group will meet from 9am to 11am and offers education and group sharing for...those choosing to leave the homosexual lifestyle, spouses, family member and friends of those struggling with homosexuality, and those struggling with homosexual issues.
Join us on May 3rd as we discuss how faith gives us strength for our struggles and enables us to see beyond what we feel.

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS
AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.
We invite churches, companies, ministries, corporations, individuals, and the entire City of Bakersfield to join with us in caring. Offer your support by donating the below listed items.
| Canned tuna | Canned soups |
| Canned ravioli | Canned pasta products, e.g.Spaghettio's |
