On September 9, 2002, eight men and three ladies entered in to our "Moving On" Discipleship Series, to help them resolve same-gender attractions. Ultimately, the goal of the series is to help men and women discover the loving, powerful presence of God who is there on behalf of their struggle. The men and women range in age from 21 years to 56 years old and come from various churches in Bakersfield, Porterville and Van Nuys, California.
At His Way Out Ministries, our primary goal is not to make heterosexuals out of homosexual people. God alone determines whether a former homosexual person is to marry and raise a family, or if he (or she) is to remain celibate, serving the Lord with his whole heart. Our ultimate goal is relationship with Christ. Out of that relationship comes all the desires of our heart.
His Way Out Ministries and numerous other Exodus International Ministries, bring the message that it is not helpful to the homosexual person to either endorse his sin or reject him/her as a person, rather, the Church must provide the new way and the new lifestyle that will replace and push out the old sinful patterns of life.
Any type of change requires that a person learn new ways of thinking and acting. During our "Moving On" Series, some of the areas we turn our attention to are:
The Root Causes of Homosexuality, Combating Despair, Depression and Hopelessness, Temptation vs. Sin, Change is Born Out of Brokenness, Correcting Our Image of God, Spiritual Warfare, Prayer, Scripture, and much, much more.
The power to change is not in knowledge of our works; the power is all in our relationship with God. But seek first His Kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well (Matthew 6:33).
Each man and woman is not fighting for future victory, but to embrace more fully Christ's accomplished victory already won for them at the Cross. Would you please join me in praying for these men and women? The path to change, although difficult, is worth it. Below are a few comments from past "Moving On" participants.

"A Christian Response to Homosexuality" Conference
On Saturday, November 9, 2002, Living Stones Ministries will be offering a one-day conference at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana, California. Joe Dallas, Founder/Program Director of Genesis Counseling and former president of Exodus International will be the guest speaker. He is author of two excellent books, Desires in Conflict and A Strong Delusion. The Conference will offer a variety of workshops such as: Counseling the Homosexual, Acceptance vs. Approval, The Impact of Homosexuality on Marriage, Homosexuality and the Reality of Change, and much more. Registration fees are $30.00 for individuals and $50.00 for couples. Fees include all general sessions, workshop materials, as well as continental breakfast and lunch. Seminar Brings Hope and Education
On Saturday, October 12th, approximately 30 people gathered at Wholeness Ministries in Bakersfield for our seminar on "Reaching into the Closet." The video presentation and workshops brought informative and challenging messages to each person in attendance. Reactions were very positive. One participant shared, "Terrific! A major learning experience." Another person expressed, "Excellent resources and spiritually refreshing." His Way Out Ministries extends a great big, "Thank You" to Wholeness Ministries for hosting the event and we look forward to our continued partnership in ministry.

New Series for "Family Support Group"
Beginning Saturday, November 2nd, the Family Support Group will be utilizing our Time Out Discipleship Series lessons which help families deal with homosexual issues in their children. The lessons include such subjects as:
How Does God Use Suffering?
Many of us have felt we were victims of life. But if we stop there and see no thread of grace running through our sufferings, we end up being victims who have no hope.
"We Admitted..."
Admitting powerlessness is a terrifying step for people because it means that our efforts at control were ineffective.
Claiming Our True Identity
The key to overcoming any sin is for us to disbelieve what our emotions and thoughts tell us and to believe what God has said about it.
The Family Support Group meets on the first Saturday of each month from 9AM to 11AM. Bring your bibles and join us. You are welcome!

We ask you to join us in praying for an increase in funds, and that God would help our ministry in this important time in the life of His Way Out Ministries. Since July 2002, we have experienced lower monthly giving. Please pray with us that God would supply this ministry with all its current financial needs, and if you have not already, please prayerfully consider if God would have you support us financially on a regular basis and/or in this time of need.

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS
AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.
