Several years ago, the Lord made it very plain that His Way Out Ministries would be traveling to the nations. Recently, the evidence of His leading and provision became a reality once again. After a three-year absence from Guyana, South America, the Lord not only enabled me to return, but I was privileged to have Darren Thompson accompany me as well. This was Darren's first time to be on the mission field and he instantly became enthralled with the people of Guyana and the glorious opportunities to lift the Name of Jesus through testimony and teaching. Frankly, he did a spectacular job and I am extremely proud of him.
We had spent several months in preparation since a short-term mission trip to Guyana is challenging in every sense of the word. Our preparation included in-depth training in personal evangelism, inner healing and deliverance prayer ministry, and the assemblage of teaching material to equip the saints for ministry to the sexually and relationally broken.
The Lord proved Himself over and over again as the One who provides. Im sure you can appreciate that a nine-day trip of this stature requires an abundance of provision for body, soul and spirit. I have always held to the truth that When God guides, He provides. Whatever is needed to accomplish His plan, He will provide. If it is finances, wisdom, protection, and materials. With God there is no short supply.
The majority of our days in Guyana were spent teaching, preaching, and sharing testimony of what an incredible God of Restoration we serve. Our trip also included a visit to the Alpha Children's Home, were we spent time with approximately twenty-five children. Our days also included encouraging our fellow Guyanese brothers and sisters in the Lord to not shrink back from doing personal evangelism in their own communities.
Without fail, the most unique area of ministry during our time in Guyana was equipping the saints for ministry to the sexually broken. Each evening we held two to three hour teaching seminars, all dedicated to enlightening our Guyanese brothers and sisters to minister transformingly to those who are broken in the church and the community at large.
It was truly amazing to watch as the Guyanese were so incredibly thrilled about having the booklets we had prepared especially for them, and to dialogue about issues and behaviors that they too need to address. Areas covered were...Root Sources for Improper Sexual Development, Sexual Addiction, Pornography, Homosexuality, Child Sex Abuse, Why People Remain in Sexual Sin and Bondage...as well, a Comprehensive Plan for Sexual Healing which included teachings on Deliverance, Inner Healing, Learning the Power of Prayer, Discerning the Voice of God, Etc. Without a doubt, the subjects that proved to be in the most demand...Homosexuality and AIDS Education.
Once again, providing a safe environment and providing the opportunity for interaction and teaching on these subjects, as they relate to sexual brokenness proved to be overwhelmingly appreciated. The seminars were so well received that His Way Out Ministries has been asked to return next year and repeat the series especially for pastors and those entering into full time ministry. A special invitation was extended to His Way Out Ministries to participate in leadership training for those studying at the World Harvest Bible School and for the youth of Guyana.
Ministry to the sexually broken (heterosexual and homosexual), is a vast enormous mission field. In so many respects we have just barely penetrated the territory. I remain amazed at how many people (Christians) still view sexual sin, of any type, as being a greater sin than another type of sin. Sexual sin is worse only in the terrible consequences that are brought upon a person due to their rebellion and disobedience. However, restoration is available through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the healing power of the Holy Spirit.
Our short-term missionary trip to Guyana, South America was a blessing from beginning to end. I am truly grateful to the Holy Spirit who enabled us to exalt Gods Name in the process. Bridges were built, people were developed, Christians were trained and people were sent out to accomplish their ministry in the world. It doesn't get any better than that. To God be all the glory!
Finally, when you know a big God, you have a big vision. My personal vision of His Way Out Ministries has always been huge. Not in the sense of having a vast sprawling ministry. No! In the realization that this ministry was birthed in Gods heart before it settled in so many of ours. Yes, indeed, ministry to the sexually broken is an enormous mission field. A field that truly is white to harvest. Would you partner with us in prayer for Gods direction in Guyana? And not only for Guyana, but any other door of opportunity that He may open to His Way Out Ministries. Yes, indeed...these are exciting times!

Coming...September 2002!
Beginning Monday, September 9, 2002, His Way Out Ministries will be offering an interdenominational discipleship support group series for men and women struggling with same-gender attractions. The series will begin on September 9, 2002, and will conclude on January 13, 2003. There is no fee for the series, but registration is required and may be completed by calling our office. If you would like more information about this exciting series...please call our office at 589-4262.

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS
AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.
