Recently, I received a phone call, followed by a letter, from Pastor Jim Hill at North Clairemont United Methodist Church in San Diego, California...
Dear Phillip,
Professor Newt Malony, of Fuller Seminary, contacted me about a book he and Maxie Dunam, President of Asbury, are working on entitled, The Faithful Support: Affirming the Churchs Position on Homosexuality. It affirms the position that homosexuality is incompatible with Christian doctrine and that persons who engage in homosexuality are persons of sacred worth, seeking affirmation of the person but transformation of the conduct and outlook of those who are led to engage in homosexuality. It is expected to be published by Abingdon in the near future. He has asked me to put together a chapter of testimonies of eight to ten persons who have come out of homosexuality.
Phillip, will you send me a copy of your testimony that I might use for this book? It will help keep the faith, especially in The United Methodist Church, and it will help to encourage hope for the struggler and ministry for those who want it, and I would appreciate it very much.
Of course, I was very honored and responded with...Yes and Amen! The book is expected to be out very soon.

Answering Pro-Gay Theology
For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. 2 Thessalonians 2:11
A claim that pro-gay theorists make is that the Scriptures: Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:9-10, have actually been taken out of context from their original meaning. The mentioned Scriptures are so clear and specific that they defy misinterpretation of any sort.
Thou shalt not lie with a man as with a woman is just as clear as Thou shalt not kill. The fact is, in Leviticus, Romans, 1 Corinthians, and 1 Timothy, homosexuality is mentioned in the context of sexual and immoral behavior. The context is quite clear...a variety of behaviors are prohibited: homosexuality, along with adultery, fornication, and idolatry, is one of them.

"A Christian Response To Homosexuality" Conference
On Saturday, October 27, 2001, His Way Out Ministries will be sponsoring a one day conference entitled, A Christian Response To Homosexuality. Our featured speaker will be Joe Dallas. Joe is currently the National Director of the New Life Ministries, Sexual Addiction Seminar, Every Mans Battle. He is the author of three books on homosexuality from a Christian perspective, including Desires in Conflict and A Strong Delusion.
Carol Wagstaff, the Founder and Director of Living Stones Ministries in Glendora, California will be sharing, A House Divided: Looking at Homosexuality in the Family. Carols husband was a youth pastor who struggled with homosexuality and died of AIDS.
The conference will be held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Bakersfield, California. Who is this conference for? The main beneficiaries are the families and close friends of men and women struggling with homosexuality, but the conference is also helpful for counselors, pastors and those seeking freedom from homosexuality themselves. This event will be an informative and encouraging experience for all that attend.

Missions Support
On Saturday, October 6, 2001, from 7:00AM until 1:00PM, His Way Out Ministries will be having a Yard Sale. This fund-raising event will enable HWOM to continue raising awareness and educating the Body of Christ in such places as Germany and Guyana, South America. Clean out those closets, cupboards, garages, etc. We need your stuff! Its not too early to start donating.

Coming Out of Homosexuality
Our Moving On discipleship support group series for men resolving same-sex attractions is in progress. The series presents three important points:
The path to change although difficult, is an adventure. God will indeed give the sincere and the persistent His great blessings of change. The person who experiences the most rapid change is the person who knows that he has no one else to run to but God. Please pray for the Moving On group and believe with us that God will heal and restore each man.
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lords glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18

IT'S ABOUT LIFE:
Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS
AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.
We invite churches, companies, ministries, corporations, individuals, and the entire City of Bakersfield to join with us in caring. Offer your support by donating the below listed items.
