June 2001 Highlights
Dear Friends,
I am convinced that more men and women would find freedom from same-sex attractions, if they would stop being told what they want to hear, instead of what they need to know.
God is able to bring good out of trouble and no matter what your sexual problem, God can heal it! There are no quick fixes or easy solutions. There may be times of struggle, but the Good Shepherd has found "you"...His wandering sheep. He has you on His shoulder and He will carry you home.
Is it true that God's Word can truly show us how to find freedom? Joshua 1:8 says, "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Some of us have felt, "But I tried the Bible and it didn't work!" Something was missing. A knowledge of the Bible is vital to recovery, but it is only when the truths of Scripture become part of the very core of our being that they do their transforming work. D.L. Moody once said, "...this book (Bible) will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from this book."
I find myself constantly warning against solutions that are more magic than miracle and sow confusion in the hearts of Christians. I have spent too much time trying to pick up the pieces of disillusioned Christians who have unsuccessfully tried some instant cure. Our healing, deliverance and restoration does not come from a method or a program, but through a living savior whose name is Jesus Christ.
One of the chief obstacles to healing is our obsession with the immediate. The "itch" for the instantaneous pervades much of our Christian thinking. We tend to think that unless a healing is immediate, it is not of God. We have become impatient and frustrated with things that take time. Isn't it amazing that people will go to a lot of trouble to learn French, or physics, or scuba diving. They have the patience to learn how to operate a car but they won't be bothered learning how to operate themselves. It has been said, "He that would get weeds destroyed must plant the ground with contrary seeds." We cannot walk in God's ways unless He teaches us, but it is deception to ask Him to teach us unless we resolve to obey Him as He instructs us.
Zig Ziglar once said..."We are where we are and what we are because of what has gone into our minds. We change where we are and what we are by changing what goes into our minds."
"Moving On" is a discipleship teaching series specifically designed to help adult men move from sexual and relational brokenness to spiritual wholeness. Why to spiritual wholeness? Because the reason God called you to become a Christian was that He desired you to be "whole." Which includes your sexuality.
Beginning Monday, July 9, 2001, we will turn our attention to very specific lessons designed to expose, uncover and reveal those "fueling agents" that cause inappropriate behavior. In other words...we will be looking at "answers" rather than just the problem.
The only requirement for attendance is a desire to be free, live free, and remain free from homosexuality.
God chose you for a purpose, and when you were saved, that set His whole plan in motion. You may not fully know what that plan is, but God will unfold it step by step and as you carry it out, you will not only be secure, but fruitful and fulfilled. Totally...because of the One who lives within you...Jesus Christ the hope of glory!
The time is NOW to seek the Healer and not just the healing. The time is NOW to seek the Deliverer and not just the deliverance. And remember..."time heals all wounds only if the person is actively working towards recovery."

"Moving On"
Moving On, an interdenominational Christ-centered support group for men struggling with same-sex attractions.
Although one need not be a Christian to benefit from Moving On, a primary goal of the series is to help men discover the loving, powerful presence of God who is there on behalf of their struggle. Embracing His love in the roots, the compulsions, the self-perceptions and the relationships that make the struggle is the key to freedom from homosexuality.

Food Ministry to Those Impacted by AIDS
AIDS profoundly impacts one's life whether that person has been infected by it or they are a family member or a friend of someone who has. The social stigmas, fears and especially the "aloneness" associated with AIDS makes it oppressive to live with. "IT'S ABOUT LIFE" is a crucial part of His Way Out Ministries. Because His Way Out Ministries is committed to compassionately communicating God's heart through a caring Christian community, His Way Out Ministries will be a receiving house for non-perishable food items. This will assist those with AIDS to maintain a balanced diet and good nutrition. Two major considerations in food donations for folks with AIDS are speed and ease of preparation. An appetite sometimes doesn't last long and the item has to be readily accessible and speedily prepared for the patient to be able to enjoy it.
We invite churches, companies, ministries, corporations, individuals, and the entire City of Bakersfield to join with us in caring. Offer your support by donating the below listed items.
